freak-out mode
Now that the time is drawing closer to our trip, I'm starting to get a little nutty. I can't believe that on this coming Wednesday, we will finally get to meet our daughter! It is truly mind-boggling, after years of wanting another child in our lives. For the first time ever, I actually went today and spent real money on brand-new baby clothes! I admit I have bought a few items second-hand at yard sales and consignment shops, but until today, no new clothes. And sadly, I have not finished knitting her blanket, although it is progressing nicely. I'll try to post some photos soon, after the mad excitement of the next couple of weeks dies down! You all would be proud of me--I've also done lots of reading on how to take care of an infant, trying to prepare for this next wonderful chapter in our lives!

posting from the road
Our hotel reportedly has an office center with internet access, therefore barring the unusual, I ought to be able to post once while we are in Guatemala City. I'm sure nothing will quite prepare us for the big adventure ahead! Wish us luck! xoxo Brooks

stash malaise
I've been wanting to make another worsted-weight baby blanket for Katherine, one that we can leave with her after our upcoming visit (July 27 - Aug 2), and there just isn't any yarn in my stash that will fit the bill. It should be machine washable, but not some of the old yucky bargain acrylic I've accumulated over the years. And the only colors I currently have of Wool-Ease are neutral grays, which don't exactly scream 'new adorable baby' to me. Well, I guess it's time to do some stash reorganization. Some of this stuff is ready for Goodwill, I think, most of it gifted to me or picked up at bargain bins and thrift stores years ago. Somebody tell me this just isn't a new excuse to buy more NEW yarn!

guess who?
I've started writing articles for Muench Yarns, and the very first one is posted on their website right now! Head on over there and let me know what you think. I'll be writing a new one approximately each month--and if there are any topics you'd especially like me to cover, just let me know! xoxo Brooks
