road triplet*
Every now and then my husband and I take a small road trip to a city we like. Last weekend we visited the D.C. area again, and I couldn't resist a quick hop-in to the fabulous Knit Happens in Alexandria, VA. This place is WONDERFUL--they carry some fibers I'd never actually handled in person before, like some to-die-for silk and cashmere. Check it out, visit the store blog, those of you adventurous enough to scroll down to Monday's blog entry may see a rare online photo of yours truly (plus an absolutely adorable puppy who was so cute running around the store)! If you are anywhere near DC, go visit--lovely yarn selection, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and lots of good books and magazines. This place gets a big thumbs-up from me! And those of you too far away to visit often [like myself], take note of the fact that Kristine will soon be opening an online ordering section to the Knit Happens website! Hooray, could life be any better?

*this is what my sister calls a "little road trip!" Cute, eh?

any knitting?
More pictures of recent knitting next Tuesday, which is the start of a new month [I ran out of bandwidth again :::blush:::]. Plus I want to show you the Knit Happens hat I bought on the afore-mentioned trip. Being bandwidth-challenged through next week, there may be some difficulty accessing parts of my site. If anyone tries to download a pattern and has trouble, just e-mail me and I'll e-mail it back to you as an attachment. "See" you in a few days! xoxo

it's that time again!
Yes, free pattern time! Raise your hand if you'd like a free pattern for the above-pictured felted handbag! I named this one after my mother, since she asked for (and received) an earlier "uptown" version. This furry little purse is made with one strand of Lamb's Pride Bulky and one strand of SandnesGarn Funny held together. It's quick to knit and features some easy short rows and [can you believe it?] GRAFTING! If there's enough interest, I'll post the pattern on Thursday. What say ye? Here's a foto of my mother's version:

yes, I'm not immune
Okay, It's fun. It's furry. I can't exactly explain why, but I walked by the Fun Fur bins at A.C. Moore the other day and bought two skeins of the light pink to go with the "champagne" color my mother gifted me with last year, and whoohoo! am working on none other than a garter stitch scarf! Can you tell I'm into stripes these days?

sleeve two
I finished the second sleeve last weekend, and excitedly picked up the stitches for the rest of the body. After working two rows I discovered a horrifying fact: I will be in my NINETIES when I finish this sweater--it takes AN HOUR to do two rows!!!! :::sigh::: So, it might sit for awhile before I finish it, who knows? I do enjoy working on it, but can't stand the fact that it's impossible to build up any SPEED. Plus since it requires moderate concentration, I can't just work on it while doing other things, like TV watching, carrying on a conversation, thinking, etc. Any advice? xoxo
